Adam Schoeman
CISO
Aave Companies
Having spent the last 15 years in information security, Adam has gained a cross section of tactical and strategic experience in defensive and offensive teams. Holding a Master of Science degree in Computer Science, an accomplished list of published academic papers, as well as presentations as Black Hat and BruCON, Adam has spent the last four years focused on building and maintaining agile security postures in startups in some of the most difficult to protect industries, such as fintech, Web3, and blockchain. This includes, as CISO, leading a blockchain company into successfully attaining a SOC2 Type 2 attestation. As the CISO at Aave, he leads the company in achieving a blockchain-driven security vision. He promotes continuous improvement, innovation, and agility in service delivery. Adam oversees technical and security controls and leads ongoing improvements in response to evolving security threats and risks. Before joining Aave, Adam was the CISO at digital asset technology company Copper.co. Prior to becoming their CISO, he was their Head of DevSecOps, where he oversaw platform security, including AppSec, offensive security, and threat modeling, for the company’s software as a service (SaaS) and enterprise offerings.
Adam has also held key security roles at companies including Barclays UK, 10x Future Technologies, SensePost, FNB Wealth, and Dynamic Recovery Systems.
