Aurobindo Sundaram is the Head of Information Assurance & Data Protection (CISO) at RELX, a global provider of information-based analytics for professional and business customers, enabling them to make better decisions, get better results and be more productive. He works closely with the company’s Board of Directors, Group & division CEOs and functional heads, Chief Technology Officers, and Chief Information Security Officers to articulate and implement RELX’s global cybersecurity program. His remit extends across 36,000+ employees, offices in 40+ countries, and customers in 180+ countries.

Previously, Aurobindo spent seven years at Schlumberger, a leading oilfield services corporation, where he implemented their cybersecurity program. During his tenure, objectives reported to the Board of Directors were set for cybersecurity across the 50,000+ strong organization for the first time in Schlumberger’s history. He was a member of the technical cybersecurity architecture leadership team for the 2004 Summer Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.

Aurobindo’s thought leadership has led to several published papers in the cybersecurity field, and RELX’s cybersecurity program has been recognized by many, including Gartner, to be a “role model” for other companies. Aurobindo was recognized with an IEEE Security & Privacy Test of Time Award in 2020 for enduring contributions to the field.

Aurobindo is a Board-strategic advisor and C-suite leader with over 25 years of experience navigating global organizations through cybersecurity and risk management challenges. He possesses pragmatic business instincts coupled with deep domain knowledge in cybersecurity, technology, privacy, M&A integration, crisis management, ESG, and the data regulatory landscape. He serves on multiple advisory boards advising VCs and startups. He publishes and presents frequently at industry-leading conferences.

Aurobindo earned his MS in Computer Science from Purdue University and an MBA from Emory University. He is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
