Brett Cumming is a transformative leader who built and currently leads the information security program for the global footwear leader Skechers, fostering a positive security culture, attracting top-tier talent, and effectively balancing risk management practices with business priorities. As the company’s Senior Director for Information Security, Brett’s exceptional leadership abilities have helped the organization scale from $1.5 billion to $7 billion in revenue. He has led the build-out of all facets of cyber and digital security, technology risk management, as well as compliance programs for data privacy regulations such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). He regularly reports to the board and senior leadership on the status of the company’s information security program and provides updates on their overall cyber risk posture. Brett is an active member of the cybersecurity community, serving on the Board of Directors for the Retail & Hospitality Information Sharing and Analysis Center (RH-ISAC), the leading cyber collaboration group within the retail industry. He is also an active member of the National Association of Corporate Directors, having participated in the NACD accelerate program and directorship certification. Brett has received multiple CISO of the year nominations and awards, including the ISE West People’s Choice Award. Brett’s background in both business and engineering roles, including his experience with the tech and cybersecurity aspects of mergers and acquisitions (M&As), gives him the broad perspective necessary to design and implement an information security strategy that effectively balances risk management and business goals, while remaining adaptable to unique business unit requirements worldwide.

Prior to his current role at Skechers, Brett held several other security leadership positions within the company, showcasing remarkable professional growth and a diverse range of responsibilities. Before joining Skechers, Brett started a web design and web marketing company.
