Christopher Gerg
CISO
Perforce Software, Inc.
As a risk management, information security, and compliance leader with experience working in highly regulated sectors including banking, payment card services, and healthcare, where he has made a career of balancing regulatory and compliance obligations with resource and budget constraints. By proactively building privacy and security into companies by design, rather than as an afterthought, Christopher has created world-class security strategies at entities ranging from the Department of Defense, to Fortune 500 companies, to early-stage startups. Christopher is most proud of his ability to build relationships and trust across organizations to create impactful change. Experienced with due diligence efforts in the merger and acquisition (M&A) and private equity worlds, he helps organizations navigate the normal stepwise maturation as they grow, transition, or exit. He’s made it a career goal to expand his experience reporting risk and developing well-considered maturation roadmaps in board reporting roles to build awareness of risk management and information security maturity. As an advising member or full board member for organizations in technical or regulated industry verticals, Christopher applies his human-focused security approach to help companies build value and prioritize focus. In addition to his current role as CISO at Perforce Software, he is the founder, CEO, and Principal Consultant at Busy Robot, an information security and risk management consulting company. Prior to starting his own consulting business, Christopher managed security privacy and risk consulting at RSM. Before that, he was the CISO at Tetra Defense, CEO at Gauntlet Consulting, and held leadership roles at Datica, Healthgrades, and Trustwave. While an expert in the theoretical aspects of information security best practices and working with the boardroom to promote executive understanding and support, he is experienced in the practical aspects of building secure technical environments. Christopher authored the O’Reilly and Associates book, Managing Network Security with SNORT and IDS Tools. He is also a licensed private pilot.
