Niel is the Chief Information Security Officer & Data Protection Officer at Doodle, a leading SaaS online scheduling tool, where he has developed and executed their information security strategic roadmap culminating in the completion of SOC 2 Type II and Cyber Verify Level 3.

He was previously the Chief Information Security Officer & Data Privacy Officer at the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) where he built out their information security, IT risk management, and privacy programs from scratch across 120+ countries. He recently served as a Team Leader/Key Expert, Cybersecurity & Digital Policy for the European Commission where he led the development of cyber capacity building roadmaps for 25+ countries in Asia, Gulf States, and the Pacific Islands. Niel has also held leadership and advisory roles at AT&T Wireless, Bemol, Canonical, CIBC, Deloitte Consulting, Family Guardian Insurance, and the Internet Society, among others.

Niel currently sits on the Independent Management Advisory Committee (IMAC) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the Professional Standards Working Group of the UK Cyber Security Council. He is also a Non-Executive Director at ISACA and the ISACA Foundation. In the past, he served on the United Nations Information Security Special Interest Group (UNISSIG) and the World Economic Forum’s Cyber Risk & Corporate Governance Working Group. He is the recipient of the International Security Journal (ISJ) Caribbean Security & Resilience Award and the ISACA Technology for Humanity Award. He was recognized by the Cyber Security Hub as one of the ‘Top 25 Cyber Security Leaders in 2024’ and by the World Economic Forum as a Global Shaper and Young Global Leader.

He holds a Master of Laws (LLM) in Internet Law & Policy from University of Strathclyde; Master of Business Administration (MBA) from University of Leicester; and an Executive Certificate in Cybersecurity Strategy & Leadership from Florida International University. He has obtained the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) Directorship Certification along with industry certifications such as CISA, CRISC, CDPSE, and CISSP.
