Dr. Ronald (Ron) Jabangwe's career seamlessly melds practical cybersecurity expertise and academic rigor. He is the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at inriver, a company that provides a multi-tenant SaaS platform that transforms product information into a strategic profit-making asset at every touchpoint along the entire product journey.
Ron holds a Ph.D. in Software Engineering from Blekinge Institute of Technology in Sweden. With a foundation in software engineering and a passion for securing modern digital ecosystems, he possesses an in-depth understanding of cybersecurity principles, emerging technologies, and best practices. He has the ability to bridge practical implementation, best practices and research insights, to develop business focused compliance frameworks that ensure data security and regulatory adherence.
Ron excels in establishing effective governance structures that align with business objectives and compliance mandates. His approach to risk management is informed by both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience, ensuring a holistic view of an organization's risk landscape. His background enriches his leadership style, emphasizing critical thinking, research-driven problem-solving, and continuous learning of the evolving threat landscape.
Prior to his role as a CISO, Ron worked as a consultant, a cybersecurity expert, and Associate Professor at the University of Southern Denmark. He continues to support the advancement of the academic and research fields of cybersecurity and software engineering through publishing and being a program committee member in accredited journals and conferences.
